Migrating from Single Proxmox 2.3 to Cluster on Proxmox 3.0

Hi,

We currently have a single Proxmox 2.3-13 server (IBM 3650-M3) running 16 VM's. It is deployed with a 150Gb RAID1 system disk and a 2.3Tb RAID5 VM-Image disk, both LVM2.

We have purchased a 2nd identical IBM 3650-M3 and we would like to configure a Proxmox 3.0 Cluster (not HA, just replicated VM-Image disk and system disk). Both servers will be next to each other with a dedicated ethernet connection for replication. Since the current server does not have any replicating software such as DRBD installed, i am concerned about having to reformat the whole existing server and taking it off line. We cannot afford this because some of the VM's are large and take a long time to restore from backup.

As far as i can tell from reading the documentation both servers need to be configured from scratch with DRBD and verified before VM's could be loaded?

Is there a way to configure the 2nd server, DRBD (or ?) ready, load the VM's onto it without having the other server ready with DRBD also? Once everything is loaded and running on the 2nd server, then i would re-configure or reformat the original 1st server as needed. Then bring the DRBD up between the 2 servers?

Any help would be appreciated!

Marvin
