The name, status etc. of my guest VMs disappeared from the UI and I was looking for reasons and I saw many posts about NFS mount points. I checked that but my NFS was working fine. pvestatd status was reporting errors because of the metric server I configured, which is normal because my metric server is also a guest on the same host which I stopped before and also has start at boot option false. After I disabled the metric server, the information of the guests came back in the UI. I think this is a bug, I am using 7.1-12.
