Hi,
After testing Proxmox very successfully for some services I run for clients, I would like to pursue consolidating a bunch of Linux hardware onto a large server.
Is there a maximum RAM that Proxmox can use? I have a good lead on a decent server with 64GB and another one for not much more that is 96GB. However some docs on OpenVZ indicate a 64GB RAM limitation.
Further, is there any perceived differences, or can someone share there experiences, between the newer AMD Opterons like the 8-core 6148 and the Nehalem 55xx and 56xx CPUs? It appears that the Opterons have much greater memory bandwidth, though I do not know how significant that is.
Most of the VMs are not very CPU intensive, however they will be doing a lot of PHP/Ruby/etc interpreted language running for web servers, so if there are differences I would appreciate hearing about them.
