We constantly have a number of outbound mails queued from MAILER-DAEMON to various addresses. Presumebly these are bounce-backs... is there any way of stopping/reducing these - often the addresses don't exist or the recipient server is dropping the connection...

any way round these queuing mails - or just one of those things?
TIA.

do you use 'receiver verification'?

just checked the deployment guide...

looks like a great idea.. I'll configure my internal servers with the recipient filtering... are there any possible issues this can cause?

we have a few redirections to external accounts - -- and blackberry redirectors running... awkward things that tend to get thrown by the spam filter.. any possible down-sides to this?

thanks!

just follow the recommendation in the deployment guide and make sure your internal mail server is reliable. and after you activated, make sure to test your system with some test emails.

by using 'receiver verification' some organizations reduced email traffic by 90 % and especially bounces.

we have a couple of internal mail servers that across a WAN... there can be periodic downtime.. would it not be recommended to switch it on?

depends on the downtime. if you select 450 (temp. failure) short downtime should be no issue.

most sending mail servers should queue emails for a week, but some admin people do not do this. I suggest you give it a try.
