Hello Proxmox,

I think my question is not really of proxmox but I don't know the right place to post.
It would be appreciated if anyone point me to right direction.

I am trying to install macOS using proxmox 8.0 VE. Using the script from Luchina Gabriel,
I could install Catalina without an issue. But Catalina is outdated and I have to newer version.
So I tried to install Ventura (v.13). The problem is the installer keep downloading but no progress.
Only apple logo for more than 30 min. I tried several times with same result.
Whereas, Catalina and BigSur download is very reproducible and working withing 10-15 min.
Any version above - Monterey, Ventura, Sequencia are all same.

Is there any reason for that ?

Regards,

Onionsjk

thank you. If you dont mind let me take this opportunity to clear out my long time question. I am fairy new to github. Say I login to Gabriel's github with question how to post my query from there ? If I dont see any QandA menu.

Actually, it's an excellent question, now I looked the second time and he disabled BOTH Issues as well as Discussion features for his repository.

He has some Discord channel linked at the bottom of his README and his website link redirects to a YouTube channel where everything is well-tailored for the PR effect.

So I apologise, this person does not want to be contacted, he wants you to buy some sort of consulting services from him (my inference only) for his (presumably) buggy scripts.

I am afraid you are limited to the Discord or discussions underneath the videos or Reddit.

BTW Do not get me wrong, I am not sending you away from here, just I do not know how likely you get a response from someone else here regarding this. But maybe you get someone point you at better scripts to use.

Please never mind andThank for your comment. Now I know a bit more about github. In the first message, you had similar experience before. Can I ask about what caused the block ?

I actually meant to say I do not use these scripts, so cannot address the question, but I can give you some hints now that you asked...

When you look at the script you are running:
https://github.com/luchina-gabriel/...5a5c011aae8d4d8247bb94790db6498b9/setup#L1423

It's using another Python script to get hold of the ISO:
https://github.com/luchina-gabriel/OSX-PROXMOX/blob/main/tools/macrecovery/macrecovery.py

I think he got it from:
https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/INSTALLER.html#creating-the-installer

It's clearly faking some serial numbers to get the download from Apple:
https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/blob/master/Utilities/macserial/FORMAT.md

I would not be surprised, if many people run such script, it is very obvious what's going on.

If you want to do this, I would strongly advise to follow some DIY step-by-step guide, not run a script blindly. This makes most sense if you have a Mac you download this on and then bake your ISO and take it PVE from there.

Consider that you are running an unknown script on unknown repo that did not even allow public to file Issues, so even it is "open source", if I spot it's downloading bespoke ISO from a hacker's den, I can't publish it there in the repo, so much for "open source" getting public scrutiny.
