Hello everyone.
I'm writing about help with choosing a platform for proxmox.
I want to build a home Proxmox server. First of all, I want to test various virtual machines on it - Windows, Linux. And also learn Docker on it.
Additionally, I want to use GNS3 on it (my laptop is already several years old and does not allow me to run too many virtual machines).
I'm taking the CCNP course (and also slowly getting up and running with LPIC and Windows Server). So I need a machine on which I can run 5 to 10-15 virtual machines at the same time.
That's why I need a lot of cores and a lot of ram.
I have two ideas for Proxmox platforms.
RAM: Kingston FURY 64GB (2x32GB) 5600MHz CL40 Impact
or: Crucial SODIMM, DDR5, 48 GB, 4800 MHz, CL46 (CT48G56C46S5) x2 (96GB Total)
Disc(s): Samsung 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe 990 PRO
Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe 990 PRO
PSU: Corsair SF750 750W 80 Plus Platinum
Case: Lian Li DAN A4-H2O A4 Riser PCIE4.0
or: Raijintek OPHION 7L
or: Phanteks Evolv Shift 2 Air
MotherBoard: ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-I GAMING WIFI
RAM: Kingston FURY 64GB (2x32GB) 5600MHz CL36 Beast Black EXPO
or: Crucial Pro, DDR5, 96 GB, 5600MHz, CL46 (CP2K48G56C46U5)
Disc(s): Samsung 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe 990 PRO
Samsung 1TB 2,5" SATA SSD 870 EVO
PSU: Corsair SF750 750W 80 Plus Platinum
Cooling: ??????????
Case: Lian Li DAN A4-H2O A4 Riser PCIE4.0
or: Raijintek OPHION 7L
or: Phanteks Evolv Shift 2 Air
Please advise what to choose?
What to change?
What cooling should be used?
Which case should I choose (I want the SFF format)?
Thank you in advance!
