I have been trying and trying and must now acknowledge my ignorance.
I can't seem to be able to create a Mac OS virtual machine.
Every time I try to boot the setup from the DVD I get the same error message.
Can't boot from the DVD error 0004.
I have tested the media on MacPro workstation and it works fine.

Any ideas?

Hi,
AFAIK the Mac-OS is bundled with the hardware and only runnable on such hardware. There are hacks to get such an system runnable on other hardware, but I'm not sure if this is a legal option.

If you can run Proxmox on a Mac, the license is fulfilled. You can run ESXi on a Mac Mini no problem. Proxmox needs to be able to distinguish that it's running on Apple hardware and how to identify the Mountain Lion installer file to use for installation. If this can be done, I'll buy a few minis and virtualize a whole bunch of ML Servers.

:) I meant that I want to install Mac Virtual Machine on a KVM (on a Proxmox.)
You can install 5 Mac instances per DVD so I want to test one on a virtual machine.
It's just that for some reason I cant seem to start the installation inside the VM.
Booty time.
"Could not read from CD ROM - Error 0004"
Looks like the format of the MAC installation DVD rom is different somehow?

You cannot install Max OS X 10.7/10.8 unless Proxmox is able to see the InstallESD.dmg file inside the installer. You also cannot install it on any non-Apple hardware otherwise you will violate the EULA for OS X. So, you need to install Proxmox on an Apple piece of hardware, and then Proxmox needs to see the installer. Then you're good.

Sorry for bringing this thread up, but I'm very interested to get OSX running on Proxmox too.

I was able to get install going, without dmg file using hackintosh method, but it lock ups before install screen. I've created USB install stick using Unibeast(just google instructions) and clonned it using clonezilla inside KVM/Proxmox to second hard drive and set it to boot. I believe KVMs emulated hardware is incompatible with OSX, could be just the video card part of it. If anyone got it running would like to know how. Thanks.
