Hi,
I currently don't have (against all common advices, I know) a valid backup system for my Proxmox home server (a HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 with 4x3TB in a RAID-Z2).
This has basically economical reasons: I would love to run a cluster, for example, but don't have the ressources to buy additional 2 servers and maintain 3 servers in the end, especially related to energy costs.
Running a Proxmox Backup Server would only mean *one* additional system to maintain but according to the system requirements I should at least run a second MicroServer, means: buying at least two HDDs with at least 2x6TB size and overall doubling the energy costs (2 running servers).
If this is the only serious option, I have to do this step but I would like to ask for other strategies:
Maybe there is an ARM based solution which can idle the most of the time and starting the hard disks only once per week to make a weekly backup?
Or maybe there is a way to attach backup drives to my PVE server and running the PBS just in a virtual machine?
Thank you for any experiences and advices!
