I have a couple ZFS over iscsi (comstar) storage devices, and I am experiencing bad performance inside of the VM that uses storage from these 2. There is a cache setting on the underlying ZFS pools, on the ZFS over iscsi configuration in Proxmox, and again in the VM disk configuration. These disks in the VM just hold tons of media for a Plex server, and I do not care about data loss. One of the disks becomes completely unresponsive inside the VM, causing it to crash. The VM cannot unmount the disk, and I always have to manually power the VM off from Proxmox to temporarily fix the problem.
What cache settings should I be using at each of these 3 layers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
