Hi and thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I've been running Proxmox for a few years now with no issues. I recently added another Intel NIC and want to pass it through to one of my VM's, but as soon as I add the hardware to the vm hardware list, I loose connection to the webgui, and even the output to my vga hard wired screen stops. Even before I start the vm!? Simply adding the device to the hardware list seems to trigger the issue.

I've double checked that I'm not adding the systems shared NIC, and indeed the mac addresses are different. What gives?

I'm trying to passthrough device 3:00.0 from the list below. AND I did add the device to /etc/modprobe.d/vfio.conf which is below:

root@proxmox:/etc/pve/qemu-server# lspci -n -s 03:00.0 03:00.0 0200: 8086:10d3

Hi,

Could you check Syslog or dmesg to find any hint? also post the output of Proxmox version pveversion -v

Hi,

Could you check Syslog or dmesg to find any hint? also post the output of Proxmox version pveversion -v
I've done some investigation into this, and it seems that there are 12 other devices in the iommu group with that nic card I'm trying to pass, so I'm guessing that's the issue...
I've tried adding to the grub command line, and it doesn't seem to make any difference to the groupings.. any other suggestions?

And here's what you requested:

Also here's the listing of the iommu groups if that helps at all, it's group 16 that has the NIC I'm trying to pass...

Also here's the listing of the iommu groups if that helps at all, it's group 16 that has the NIC I'm trying to pass...

you can't have other devices in the iommu groups, or they will be "unplug" from host at the same time than your nic.

Maybe try to plug your nic on another pci slot, sometimes it's work.
