Hello,

Im not able to login to proxmox via web interface using an realm (PVE)...
Our bill make auto for our nodes integrated in cluster like: client_12965_1_716 the permissions for that user is PVEUser.
On the start of the cluster every thing works fine but after how the cluster was updated we can't login with PVE Realm and our bill didn't extract the VNC Console from Proxmox.

Also when I try to login in logs I find the below information
Jun 30 16:03:16 tmp-node4 pvedaemon[2190511]: authentication failure; rhost=::ffff:1**.***.*.** user=client_12965_1_716@pam msg=no such user ('client_12965_1_716@pam')
Jun 30 16:03:43 tmp-node4 pvedaemon[3582491]: <root@pam> successful auth for user 'client_12965_1_716@pve'

But in webinterface of the proxmox I get an error "Login failed. Please try again"

Maybe someone can help we with that issue on that forum, thanks.

Regards,
Furled.

Code:
Jun 30 16:03:16 tmp-node4 pvedaemon[2190511]: authentication failure; rhost=::ffff:1**.***.*.** user=client_12965_1_716@pam msg=no such user ('client_12965_1_716@pam')
Jun 30 16:03:43 tmp-node4 pvedaemon[3582491]: <root@pam> successful auth for user 'client_12965_1_716@pve'

It seems you're trying to login using the PAM realm the first time. Make sure the right realm is selected in the WebGUI.

Thanks for your reply mira, I use an PVE realm.
In attached screenshot you can see that one.Screenshot from 2022-06-30 16-31-38.png
I didn't know why in journalctl -fu pvedaemon.service I get an login with pam for first and the is PVE.
Also I will attach the screenshot of the permissions from machine settings.

According to the logs you provided, the working login was 30 seconds after the first one.
What changes did you make during that time?

Please provide the full log since 16:03: journalctl --since "2022-06-30 16:03:00" > journal.txt

All I can see in that log after 16:03:16 are successful logins.
Are you sure you're connecting through the GUI on that node?

A failed login should be logged.

This seems to be an issue with the GUI then. `pvedaemon` says that the login worked.

Did you modify anything in the GUI?

Try running apt install --reinstall pve-manager proxmox-widget-toolkit

Also try to restart pveproxy by running systemctl restart pveproxy.service.
Maybe the issue is that pveproxy runs into a timeout for some reason.

Do you run any API calls during that whole time that would explain why pveproxy doesn't handle the login well?

Hello,
i had the same Issue, I've done the reinstallation and it worked great.
but today, the problem came back... I'm in PVE 7.2.7 stand alone;

I've tried : systemctl restart pveproxy.service = NOK
tried : apt install --reinstall pve-manager proxmox-widget-toolkit = NOK
tried apt install --reinstall pve-manager proxmox-widget-toolkit AND systemctl restart pveproxy.service = NOK
tried reboot after all = OK

When rebooting, they are two options :

1/ Proxmox VE (5.15.35-3-pve)
2/ Proxmox VE (5.15.39-1-pve)

by default, server boot on 5.15.39.1 but don't boot with : zfs modules absent ... ?

i reboot on 5.15.35.3 and everything is fine.

I don't know the relationship between those two problems ?

Hello,
again this morning 'Login Failed, try later'....
nobody else know this problem? strange.
I haven't customized nothing, I just try to login normally, as usual.
