I’m trying to set up a cluster with local lvm storage on every node for VMs on that node. The web interface inter face will not let me set storage on the nodes much less start a VM as long as the node does not have vg(s) named the same as all the lvm storages setup on the master, gives error related to "can't find /dev/(storage name)". this error can be worked around by naming VG on the node the same as the vg on the master but the size/used for the vg storage on the node will not be displayed on the master.
is there any way to set up lvm storage on the nodes correctly or do I have to work around this issue every time?
I don’t care if live migration works(but it would be nice) as the only time I will migrate is when the node goes down or I can afford the down time. I have also found a thread that shows me how to "migrate”, not live, the vm with a little command line time.

we don’t want to use nfs for vm storage as it would put a lot of unneeded strain on the network to run 5 proxmox servers when the storage we need is already on the node(about 4-6 TB a node,) but we do plan on using it for backup storage
