Linux Kernel 6.18 is LTS (but not LTS on Ubuntu yet): Inclusion in PVE Test Repo?

Hello,

I know it takes a while for a new kernel release to get massaged and tested enough to appear in the test repo. I'm curious how Proxmox VE will incorporate 6.18, if at all, given that it's a Linux kernel LTS release but not yet an Ubuntu LTS kernel.

This is an exciting one. The Xe driver in the kernel should finally enable SR-IOV iGPU passthrough to VM and LXCs without the use of the DKMS driver for several generations of Intel CPU, but it's going to take a while for that to get fully tested and documented, I think.

well it's barely 4 days old ;)

we haven't settled yet on what the next version after 6.17 will be.

Yeah. I wasn't trying to rush y'all. :)

It just caught my eye because the 6.18 LTS release happened to hit so close to when 9.1 with 6.17 was released, and it's way too soon to be thinking about Proxmox 10/Debian 14.

It made me realize again that I still don't quite understand how PVE versions work. :P
