Limited cloud space. Best backup approach

Hi,

I've 8 LXC and 1 QEMU VM. Currently I backup 7 of those LXC (all except the one running PBS) and the VM.

Then I use Duplicati and send to the cloud (MEGA) some folders but the backup is > 20 GB so I cannot send to MEGA anymore. I decided to create another MEGA account (one for LXC and the other one for the VM) but I just realised that the .chunks folder is the same for both and it's the one taking space (both CT and VM folders are just some MB).

Any advices about the best approach to solve this? (like getting two .chunks folders, one for LXC and other one for VM).

Would it be better to RClone than Duplicati?

All backup snapshots of a datastore are deduplicated and share the same chunk files. So one option would be to create two datastores and backing up half of the guests to one datastore und the other half to the other datastore. Then you get two smaller datastore folders.

Tuxis looks interesting but they ask for more data than the amount I confident sharing right now.

My datastore is an USB HDD, which I share with my media files. Best approach will be create three different partitions? Could I still mount it the same way? Thank you.

Datastores are just folders on any filesystem. You don't need additional partitions. Just create a new folder on the same partition and set it up as an additional datastore.
Just make sure you don't put a datastore folder inside another datastore folder.
