Hi,
we are running kind of small demo lab on 3 machines with PVE No-Subscription.
The main purpose of this setup is demonstrating some other software solutions for partners and prospects/potential customers.
It's usually about short live demos or free hands-on 1 day workshops eventually some additional testing after workshop for up to 1 week - all done for free.
We are using custom setup installed manually over Debian based machines with the pve-no-subscription repository and it's working fine so far - that was done with the ready to use binary packages of proxmox - alike https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Buster and NO manual source code compilation ever touched.
Today I've just accidentally came across the https://www.proxmox.com/en/proxmox-ve/pricing page, where there is NO free version and even the community option has a price tag attached to it with 95euro/per cpu socket yearly, which is a bit contrary to the https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Package_Repositories#sysadmin_no_subscription_repo page saing that You don’t need a subscription key to access the pve-no-subscription repository.
So here is my question:
- are we OK with using the Proxmox for FREE just with the pve-no-subscription repository just for our small demo lab while also serving the free demos/workshops for customers on it?
- or there is NO free version whatsoever and we would need to buy the subscription anyway for being complaint with the PVE licensing despite PVE being opensource/AGPL and having this pve-no-subscription repository enabled with no key?
Please advise - what's the legal and valid answer for our case.
Cheers, K.
