License Question

Hello,

I have looked through the Website & Forum however not able to find an answer to my question, looking to run Proxmox with a License, will be running with a CEPH cluster, do I only need to license the CPU Procs on the VM node's?

Or do I also have to license the CPU's on the CEPH Storage Nodes?

You never need to buy a "license "to run Proxmox VE, but its recommended to buy a subscription to get access to the enterprise support repository and to the enterprise support team.

If you go for a Cluster, you have to buy the same subscription level on all nodes to be qualified for support.

Hello Tom,

Thanks for the quick reply, yes reason for looking to get a license for the the supported repo.

Fully aware need to license all cluster nodes at the same license level, what I mean is CEPH Storage nodes that only have OSDs on and nothing else, do these need licenses swell?

Or just the Proxmox VM Compute nodes?

If you do not run Proxmox VE on the Ceph nodes you do not need subscription keys.

If you use Proxmox VE to run and configure Ceph, you need also subscription keys for them.
