Licence key when switching the server

I have a running PMG with a basic licence key. The server needs to be switched to a new one. I setup a new system. What is the correct way to bring the licence from current server to the new server? Because I do not want to have offline time, both servers need to be online during the switch.
Before doing the switch I already need the key on the new system to get all current updates.
Will this work?

1. Remove the key from the current system (the system will still run without problems?)
2. Login to the shop an make a reissue for the key
3. Add the new key to the new system
4. Update the new system, so that everything is uptodate
5. Restore a backup from the old system to the new system (copy the backup from the old system with scp to the new and import it on the new system)

Is this the correct way or is there something wrong?

Hi,
yes that works. Subsription-Key is for Repository-Access. It will not stop the system if key is removed. It just can no longer access the Production-Repository but will continue to work....
