I am currently deploying my custom OS, which is based on Linux Red Hat, using a QCOW2 image in Proxmox VE. While I am aware that cloud-init is supported and I have successfully used it, I am looking to further automate the process by leveraging the no-cloud datasource.

Specifically, I want to use my custom cloud-init configuration within my QCOW2 image. Has anyone managed to achieve this in Proxmox VE? If so, could you please share your experience and any relevant steps or configurations? Any guidance or documentation references would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

While I have not attempted to do this specifically, based on some familiarity with the CloudInit process : what you want to achieve would not involve PVE at all. Place the configuration file inside the QCOW via one of the many methods and boot your VM. Or point the VM to the network cloudinit location.
