LDAP config - user name '' is too short (500)

I'm trying to auth using ldap,







but when i try to prevew sync, i get the error:
user name '' is too short (500)

looks like this only works as root.

confirmed! You have to do this as root!

There should be a better error message for this, though!

This is still true for PVE 7.1-8. A proper error message would be welcome.
