KSM on Proxmox 1.6

can't this be a little bit "dangerous" for the system when coming from debian lenny based kernels in the past?

no (previous version of the proxmox kernel are also base on RHEL, or Ubuntu kernels. We only use debian kernel for 2.6.32).

If I understand correctly at the moment it's not possible to run KVM with KSM enabled and at the same time kernel with OpenVZ support. Are there any plans to fix this shortcoming? Is the problem related with Proxmox or are there some major problems in upstream projects (kvm, openvz, kernel) ?

Basically KVM with KSM is the latest KVM branch of proxmox. Openvz would stay always on a ealier kernel version, is not a matter of patch.
I had to discover this like 6 months ago, when dealing with 2.6.24 vs 2.6.32 same happened in proxmox 1.5
