Hello!

I have some VMs using different linux distributions.

By some unknown reason the keyboard stops to work, i.e., backspace, arrows, ctrl and other keys won't work. I only can type in letters and numbers.

This only happens on Linux VMs, i also have some different Windows VMs and keyboard is ok! I change for the console window of Windows VMs and keyboard works ok!

Any idea for resolving this issues??

Thanks! :)

VF

Thanks Wolfgang!

It seems to me that I did not explain well ... I have access to VMs using the VNC Console, and it is here that the keyboard stops working. This only happens on VMs with linux.

In VNC Console when I open a terminal window, the keyboard stops working ... only the keys of letters and numbers work. Keys as Backspace, ARROWS, ... stop working.

Any ideas for the solution?

Thank you. VF

Which pve version are you using? I've seen issues with VNC and keyboard - but different from yours. (personally I only had it work either completely or not at all until I rebooted the VM, and it's hard to tell whether it's VNC, qemu, or browser related... The fact that only VM reboots solve it point to qemu though in my case.)
So:
-) Which PVE version
-) Which qemu version
-) When does it happen (some time during the operation of the VM or from the beginning)
-) How do you fix / work around it: do you have to reboot the VM or just reconnect VNC?
-) Do you use the web UI's java VNC client, or the noVNC one?

Hi, Blub!

-) What version PVE
* Pve-manager / 3.2-4 / e24a91c1 (running kernel: 2.6.32-29-pve).

-) What version qemu
* QEMU emulator version 1.7.1.

-) When this happens (time during operation of the virtual machine or from the beginning)
* It happens during the operation of the virtual machine, ie, whenever you write something and trying to erase what was written the keyboard stops working correctly.

-) How do you fix / work around it: you have to restart the VM or just reconnect VNC?
* Open the virtual machine the VNC console on another computer with Linux and can proceed normally, ie, the keyboard is ok!

-) Do you use the web java client user interface VNC, or a noVNC?
* I am using VNC java web.

I'm using a mac with safari browser as a client, and java 8 update 45.

Any ideas??

Tks!
VF

Sorry, those symptoms are different from mine so I don't really know what to say except that you could maybe test with different browsers and/or java versions. :-/

I'm having the same issue as blub. On Linux VMs I can't login because the keyboard just enters gibberish until I reboot the VM.
