Hello everyone!

I have a question with the jumbo mtu configuration for the cluster with ceph

The scenario is the following:

3 nodes
1 40GB interface
2 10GB interfaces

My intention is to create all the cluster networks using linux vlan
None of the cluster interfaces would have an IP address, only the vlans, bridges, etc.

The question is the following: Do I have to configure the Jumbo frame MTU 9000 in the interfaces or in each Linux Vlan or bridge?

PS: I am also going to experiment with SDN vxlan BGP etc.

Thank you so much!!

When configuring the MTU for Jumbo frames make sure that all talkers on the Ethernet broadcast domain have the same MTU. That includes the router and other devices.
AFAIK you need to configure the MTU on each network interface.

I have mtu 9000 set on the nics and the bridges.

I then have no problem using vxlans from the SDN with the machines left at the default 1500 mtu.

as gurubert says all nics where 9000 should be at 9000. but vlans being carried can all be at 1500 fine also just don't have mixed MTU on the same vlan
