[SOLVED] Issues with USB C 2.5G Ethernet Adapter

Hello All,

I received my UGREEN USB C to 2.5G Ethernet Adapter today to improve the bandwidth on my proxmox (Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro).

I connected the USB and ethernet. Switch and device show connection.

I created a bridge, added it as the device to the ports, everything showed as active therefore thought it was good.

Next I switched a VM over to use the new bridge. I could no longer connect to the VM.

I added a IP to the bridge, and was able to successfully ping and connect to the VE. I know the device works, just cannot get it to function in a bridge.

I am at a loss here, I wanted this as the primary connection with failover to the onboard NIC. but I am stumped on what I am missing to have this functioning as expected.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just hit by a similar situation.
Could you check if your VM got an IP from DHCP / what's the output from `ip addr show` from within in VM?
Also can could you check the status of PVE managed bridging devices using `ip link show` on the PVE host? Namely these:

fwbr<VMID>i<network interface X> is the firewall bridge where the filtering happens.
fwpr<VMID>i<network interface X> is the bridge in device.
fwln<VMID>i<network interface X> is the bridge out device.
tap<VMID>i<network interface X> is the connector port for the guest.

Im having the same issue but only with the type c version. I bought one type a and it works fine. I looked for drivers and ofc the american masked chineese website doesnt have any. Im just having to bite the bullet and buy 2x more type a versions for another 50$

Yes it was the UGREEN ones, 2.5gbs

Mine is the Type C version, and I have it operating just fine, I did find another post with regards to the drivers I will see if I can find it again and link it.
