issues with centos 7 vm

I have a Centos 7 VM that is running idle, and every day or two it freezes up and becomes unresponsive. I have no idea weather to troubleshoot on the Proxmox level or the Centos 7 level. From what I can tell in the Centos 7 logs there appears to be nothing out of the ordinary. Needing tips on where to begin troubleshooting.

Most of these freezes happen when the IO wait is too high (the disks are not abled to handle the IO you're asking)
check if your IO wait in the host summary is low all the times
