Hi folks,

When burning the latest ISO image 6.4.1. to a DVD, and trying to install, the install fails.
Reason: "Found ISO9660 FS but no or wrong proxmox cd-id, skipping"
Please see image attached for details.
DVD device is a SATA DVD in a 8 Core Dell Server

If there is anything additional I can help, pls let me know.
Many thanks, Tobi

It is recommended to install from a USB drive, see our docs for more on that. Alternatively, try using the default debian buster ISO and install PVE on top, see our wiki for that.

I'll also mention that our upcoming 7.0 release has improved compatibility baked into the installer, which might fix your issue - no release date yet for that though, so I recommend the workarounds noted above.

Thx, Stefan, thanks for the input. I was already thinking doing like you describe.

Just out of curiosity: If you have an explanation about the CD-ID purpose (sound like it would be reserved for particular data carriers that you provide as a company) and the matter regarding your teams decision to not support a partitioning option during install, I would be even more happy. Thanks for the great product and all of your work that you are doing

The CD-ID is simply there to ensure the actual correct ISO is found and not corrupted, or avoid trying to access a wrong medium, e.g., if there's another ISO attached (with another PVE or something completely different on it). It's a file with a random UUID generated on ISO build that is present in both, the initrd and the "actual" ISO image. It's not a partition marker or something like that.

So in general it just means that there's something off with your installation media. In your case it seems that there are two CD-ROM drives (sr0 and sr1), which is slightly odd nowadays. You could mount the ISO image manually and check for a .cd-id (or similar named) file in there to make the check yourself.
