iso and virtual cd roms

Is it possible to load virtual cd rom images from ISO's
In short - I want to send the DC a number of ISO's via the web...
our servers do not have cd/dv roms handy -

Any ideas.?

yes, you can upload ISO images via web interface (or via scp to /var/lib/vz/template/iso). these can be used to install KVM VM´s like Windows or Linux.

Awesome

Thank you for such a quick and response reply.
I am enjoying ProxMax

So far have 13 servers installed - the clustering is another topic - but willing to work that out locally first.

I have asked an intern to take a peek @ some of the Virtual Appliances over @ VMWare and to convert them - once done - would you be interested in having them on the proxmox site - or a mirror perhaps

(speaking of that - need one? )

The fastest way to convert such an appliance is to convert it just to KVM - see http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Migration_of_servers_to_Proxmox_VE

but using OpenVZ containers is much better for appliances and this is the reason why all Proxmox VE Virtual Appliances are based on OpenVZ.

The plan is to have a "HowTo build virtual appliances for Proxmox VE (OpenVZ)". We are currently focused on the release of 1.0, but afterward we try to publish this tools. So anyone can build up virtual appliances in a professional and standardized way.

Reasons for using Containers for Virtual Appliances:
- perfect management (full access from the host to the container)
- small
- backup/restore very fast and easy - online with vzdump (already on the web interface, will be released on the next update cycle)
- no overhead means near native performance

Mirrors:
currently we have no mirrors, but I after the release of Proxmox VE 1.0 our current servers/network cannot handle the traffic and we will think of setting up mirrors - so if you can help here this could be interesting.

mirroring

I am sure we can help.

Currently we provide a mirror for the Typo3 community here in the US and until recently were the only North American TER (typo3 extesion repository)

Providing a simple location stateside would yield a faster download for those using the product on this side of the pond.

I can set this up on a physical or virtual server if you would like.
