Hello

I am looking at how to configured a windows server vm to access iscsi storage vlan. I have created a second vnic that is tagged with vlan number. I have the port on the switch tagged with the vlan number. The iscsi storage is truenas and it is on hardware not virtualized like I have seen in videos. I don't trust it. I am not using the iscsi storage for the virtual machine storage because the drives on the hosts are large enough with no problem. I am just trying to get a virtual machine file server to access the storage vlan to access it so group policy will allow access to the files stored on there. I just can't get it to ping it. That vlan is not being routed in any way shape or form. The ip addresses are staticly assigned so no dhcp. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I hope somebody can help me figure this out. The network interface is set to vlan aware and it is a 10g connection.

Thank you

Habe you enabled the vlan-awareness on you PVE bridge? Is the vlan you try to access accessible via your switch in which your PVE is plugged in to?

Yes I have it set to vlan aware and both the pve and the truenas box are both connected to the same switch. I have the port for the truenas box tagged with the vlan so that port is only on the storage vlan. The file server has two vnics one is so it access the network to allow data access the other is set to the same vlan so it can access the storage.

Those are the default pitfalls, I cannot think of anything else. Once, the VLAN configuration in PVE is done, it just works - at least in my experience. Most problems I encountered were switch-related.

I have been trying to find out how to check the settings on my switch. I feel it is the same way as well. I have a uniquiti edge switch es-16-xs. I figure I have something not setup correctly. It is just figuring out what it is.
