iSCSI LVM no snapshot....alternatives?

Hello,

we have installed a Open-E cluster and originally intended to share the disks via iSCSI. But LVM on top of iSCSI does not support snapshots, which is very bad for us. Looking at https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage would have prevented the surprise, I know. :-)

lvm-thin does not work on iSCSI as of the page, which would support snapshots. Is the only alternative NFS?

Greetings,
Thomas

I would not recommend to use ISCSI, use CEPH instead of it, if you can change it.

ISCSI has more negatives in my opinion, it's harder to setup / maintain. If you mount an LUN the wrong way, you can destroy all of your data.

Think we will go the NFS way. From a very basic test, speed test is almost the same and with qcow2 we have snapshots for the VMs.
