Is PVE install on top of Debian supported?

Hi, I am struggling to find a single definitive answer to this.

I've been tasked with commissioning a new cluster of 50x servers. I wish to deploy Promox to install in an automated manner via a PXE server. The official instructions on automation seem to to focus on creating a customised ISO file. Any guides on deploying over network seem to suggest automated Bookworm install and installing the appropriate PVE packages. I already have an automated Bookworm install set up but I am stopping to consider if I am taking the right path. I'm currently experimenting with the pre-iso-2-pxe script by morth027 on Proxmox. I'll see how I get on with this method, but in the meantime could someone tell me 'roll your own' is supported with a standard subscription? Thanks

Both installing from Proxmox VE ISO and installing Proxmox VE on top of deban is fully supported.

If possible it is recommended to install from Proxmox VE ISO as it includes all needed packages (mostly packages needed for SDN) but is not required as both install methods are fully supported by the promox team.

But if you plan on adding a subscription key to the hosts I would recommend Proxmox VE ISO as otherwise you first need to use the no-subscription repository to install Promox VE and then switch to the enterprise repository.

The more I look into getting the bare metal PVE installer to run via PXE, it seems very hacky compared to the Debian first approach. I already have an automated pressed Bookworm install setup. I plan to do the PVE setup with Ansible.

Yes, support for it is getting better but still very basic.

Both installing from Proxmox VE ISO and on top of debian have there advantages and disadvantages.
