Is it safe to update to Proxmox 9

Hi Proxmox Community

I have a NAS machine that I recently installed Proxmox on, and had to install version 8 due to boot issues (some message about efi boot files).

The machine is an HPE microserver gen 8, and from some digging online I found that it is a known issue but wasn't able to find a solution for it.

Since version 8 now about to lose support, I am wondering if now that version 8 is installed and working, I can safely install version 9 (or maybe there is a safe way to get V9 working)

Currently my boot SSD in in the drives bay, does it affect it? I saw online some users recommend use a USB boot grub to support EFI
 
Shouldn't matter, it's all software updates it'll just install it to wherever sda is. I wouldn't use USB boot if it's a production server if you have a dedicated drive to boot the server with.

For a reference, this is my Gen9 server the boot disk is in the front disk array on its own because it doesn't have a dedicated boot device on it

This started off on version 7 bios booting and is now 9.2.4 EFI booting all with the boot disk allocated to sdd so it shouldn't make much difference.

Ok, I'll give it a try later on. I still don't have much on the machine some recovery shouldn't be problematic.
