Hello everybody!

I'm new here!
My actual config :
- A standalone PC running Linux with light hardware (I don't run big games) - Ryzen 7 2700X - 500Go NVMe - GTX 1060
- Another machine for Proxmox (Linux servers), no link with the actual topic

My idea is to run Proxmox instead of the actual Linux distro and run my games inside a Linux VM.

I don't know much for the graphical part of Proxmox (graphic card passthrough, etc...), so two cases :
- My TV connected to the graphic card of the future Proxmox server
- The graphic card not connected to anything, and a powerless machine (like a Raspberry) on the TV only used to show the image via VNC by exemple

Another point is the USB ports, used to connect the keyboard and the gamepad. Is it possible to use the ports of the server ? Quite silly question, I know, but none of my virtualized debian servers uses USB ports...

Thank you in advance!
ryzen.

hi,

this is what you're looking for [0] [1]

to answer your questions:
. Is it possible to use the ports of the server ?
yes, you can passthrough pretty much any PCI hardware to the VM. you can also directly pass whole USB ports as well.

Most games wont run on linux. A Win10 VM would be a better choice.

If cable length isn't a problem I would connect the GPU directly to a TV. All remote desktop protocols suffer more or less from input latency and compression artefacts. VNC for example is a pain. Steam remote gaming is your best option if most of your games are steam games. If you don't connect your TV directly to the gpu you also might need to buy a dummy plug so your graphic card thinks there is a screen with speakers connected.
