[SOLVED] Is it possible to revert the "resize" Disk Action on a PVE ceph disk ?

Hello,

I clicked too fast this morning and increased a Ceph VM disk way more than I wanted from the Disk Action > Resize in PVE 8.4 web UI.

I haven't made any change inside the VM yet so there should be no data loss risk in reducing the disk size to the expected amount.

Is there a way of reducing size of a ceph VM disk in my situation ?

Yes, the "qm" manual says that shrinking is not supported but here it sounds as it is supported. Or is "qm" the PVE API mentioned over there? So what would be the manual way instead?

If it is qemu-img, I probably have to mount the Ceph pool manually to access the disk? How is the mount done?

So I assume the VM has been not running the entire time.

The easiest method would be - to delete the VM completely & then restore it from a backup prior to the disk change size. You should have such backups anyway - especially when doing such major VM changes. If you want to test that backup first, you could restore it using a different VMID for testing.
