Hi everybody!
I'm more or less new to Proxmox and have managed to install Proxmox PVE and several VMs. Proxmox is running on a six network port small PC. All the VMs use vmbr0 to get their IP from a DHCP server in the network. The Proxmox host itself has a static IP set on "port 1" and is connected via that port to the switch. Now I'm planning to switch from my dedicated router to OPNSense virtualized in Proxmox. OPNSense setup worked quite well and I also managed (for testing purpose) to connect to the internet via PPPoE from my OPNSense VM (WAN is connected via "port 2").
Now "port 3" is planned to be my "main" LAN port, connecting to an upstream switch and serving the network, with OPNSense being the router/dhcp server etc. Now I would have get a cable from "port 3" to the switch and then back to "port 1" for the "Proxmox LAN port" and was wondering, whether this could somehow be virtualized? So instead of running a network cable back and forth (from "port 3" to the switch and back to "port 1") just some kind of "bridging"?
I hope I could properly describe my idea and that the idea is not completely nuts. I just find the idea weird to run a cable back and forth.
Thank you so much!
kind regards
Hama
