Hi,

I'm new to ProxMox so i have some questions related to IP address after searching many days.

1. Is there any way to automatic issue IP for VM and OpenVZ ? In SolusVM KVM auto assign IP for client after 1 click add IP via web admin and VM/openvz can access internet.
2. How to detect IP of VM without going network tab of these VM ? For a large environtment we can not do this manually. And can't search also.proxmox search.png
3. KVM got problem with IP added to network tab, after added IP to network tab, VM still can not access internet. And I have to login to VM and set manually IP address, else VM can not access internet.
4. In the case we assign IP 192.168.1.1 for KVM but our client set manually IP 192.168.1.1 and more 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 and goes on....what happened here ? We tested and this can set and can use these free IP. So network tab in this case mean nothing to KVM. Only affect for OpenVZ

Anyone have experiment about this issue ? Can you share.

Use the api's for provisioning VMs.

But I don't know what you're talking about with a network tab on kvm. Kvm will always require a manual config in the VM unless you are running a dhcp server on the network.

Hi Pirateghost,

Screenshot is what i mentioned for network tab.

DHCP will broadcast in your network, it's suitable for internal company but not for datacenter or hosting environment due to broadcast packet to your network.

Furthermore, what happen if your client try to set manual IP address wrong/duplicate with used one and lead to conflict with other VM in your network. How to avoid this ?

Currently I tried modulesgarden's modules for proxmox but no luck, just for auto provision OpenVZ and KVM but IP provision does not work even with OpenVZ and KVM.

That screenshot is of a container. Not a KVM

Thanks for your correction, but how do you know the IP address of KVM without login to that VM ? Proxmox do not show this information like VMWare Guest tool or Parrallel Cloud Server tool.
