Maybe there is already some form of partition table on the destination drive, which is not usable by Proxmox. Wiping the start of the drive would probably help. Or overwrite it with a new partition table with something like GParted Live (which will also allow you to inspect the destination drive more closely to check my guess).I am trying to install Proxmox to Dell E7440 pc via USB and getting following error message "Invalid partition table".
ok, prepared Gparted USB and started it. It sees 3 partitions. Should I just wipe them all? and create new one? Not sure if I can do something wrong as I use this tool first timeOr overwrite it with a new partition table with something like GParted Live
And the partition that currently contains Windows seems to be locked (has small key next to partition name) and I can not delete it or format itOr overwrite it with a new partition table with something like GParted Live
I managed to unlock it and can create new partition table. But what partition table type should I create for Proxmox?Windows seems to be locked
Make sure to unmount existing partitions, if they are mounted automalically. I don't know the dtails about the small key and Windows partitions, sorry. And the partition that currently contains Windows seems to be locked (has small key next to partition name) and I can not delete it or format it

Make sure you have selected the right destination drive (double-check by size for example). Choose the menu Device and then Create Partition Table. Maybe select the type gpt instead of msdos and click Apply.I managed to unlock it and can create new partition table. But what partition table type should I create for Proxmox?
Thx, have done that. Now partition is listed as Unallocated. Do I need to take any further steps, like create new Partition? I tried to install Proxmox from USB and same message of Invalide Partition table pops up at the beginning. I surely can ignore it and installation proceeds, but unsure if this can be an issue later? Thought I will not get this error messagetype gpt instead of msdos and click Apply.
If al this did not fix the issue then I don't know what is going on, sorry.Thx, have done that. Now partition is listed as Unallocated. Do I need to take any further steps, like create new Partition? Should I try another partition type? Not sure which one is safe for Proxmoxal this did not fix the issue
Try msdos, but I don't think it will help. Maybe a screenshot/photo of where you encounter the issue might help others to determine where the problem is.Should I try another partition type? Not sure which one is safe for Proxmox
