Intel H20 Optane not seen has two drives in proxmox

Hi All,

Using an AMD EYPC CPU and Tyan S8030 board. It sees the NVME 32GB portion, but not the larger 400+ GB portion

Any thoughts on how to get this to work? Thanks!

Intel H20 Optane appears to be PCIe 3.0 x4, but it is actually split into PCIe 3.0 x2 + x2. I believe it will only function properly in an M.2 slot that supports lane splitting.

OK, my motherboard supports bifurcation of all its PCIE slots (they are all x16)

Perhaps I'm best to install these on a PCIE nvme card or is there some other way to get them working? I see no settings for the M2 slots
 
I believe the H10 and H20 were created specifically for motherboards designed to use them.

They are not generic M.2 SSDs, but rather very specialized ones that cannot be used on ordinary motherboards.

Therefore, I think it would be best for you to prepare a different SSD...

I discarded H10 in the past for similar reasons.

It seems you can see it when you put tape on it.

The Intel chipsets that officially support H10 are the Z490, W480, H470, Q470, B460, Z390, Q370, H370, B360, B365, and Z370.

If it can be divided into x16 (x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2), I think it would be visible, but I've never seen such a board, so I don't know.

If you can return it, that's a good thing. Buying an SSD with PLP will save you trouble down the road.
