So I tried installing Proxmox 9 to my morefine s500+ mini pc and got the same issue that I've had before with these mini pcs and proxmox so I'm going to try to get to the bottom of it this time.

What's happening is you can get through all the installer question steps and when you start the install it reboots almost instantly.

So, I installed debian 13 to follow the upgrade path to Proxmox 9 from there, trying this last night, once I got to running the full upgrade after adding the package sources and signing key then it basically does exactly the same thing as the installer with no output into the systemd journal just a hard reset. Debian was working perfectly and there were no issues with installing it so this is specific to the proxmox packages it seems.

The way I got around this before was to install an earlier unimpacted version, I can't remember the exact version, and then upgrade incrementally. I can't see anything obvious in the forums that addresses this so I thought I'd start a thread.

Edit to highlight that Debian install was fine before adding the proxmox packages

Okay, testing I now remember that I needed to upgrade from v7.4 to get a working v8 install. I've tried installing v8.0-2 this morning and just after the 3% mark, whatever it does after installing LVs is when the PC auto restarts.

Actually, this has also shown up with the latest 7.4 image from the website so now I'm going to have to step back through the isos

Okay, adding a good old nomodeset to the Linux kernel params fixed this so that I could complete an install and then it has booted afterwards just fine.
