How did you configure the disks for that VM? Virtio Block? Try to set them to Sata and run the installer again.

For some reason, that I need to investigate, the installer seems to have a problem with virtio drives.

Thanks, that was the solution. It's clear of course, that Proxmox was not intended to run in a virtual host. But on the other hand, it runs well with the virtio net driver. 
We found the reason, a patch is out for review [0]. If it gets accepted, the next released ISOs shouldn't have that problem anymore.
