Hi,

I have sort of a weird problem.
During the installation of Proxmox VE 1.1, suddenly the cd is no longer detected in the drive (seems after initializing the drivers for it)

It comes with the following message:

loading filesystem drivers
Searching for CDrom
Searching for CDrom
Searching for CDrom
Searching for CDrom
No CDROM found, cannot continue. press CTRL-D to reboot

Hardware config is:

Asus P5QL Pro 775 Mainboard
Intel q6600 2.4ghz quad core processor
8GB ram
4 1TB SATA2 disks
Samsung DVD drive (SATA)

any ideas how to solve this?

regards,

Roy

Ok....it was the well known ahci bios setting

Hi all, Sadfully not too many responses. Was my question that dumb? anyway...here's the heads up: It seems that Proxmox VE 1.1 cannot deal with SATA disks and SATA DVD-drives that are not in AHCI mode. Seems to be an underlying driver issue. Regards, Roy

Just tested IDE and AHCI mode for installation, no problem here on our hardware. (Intel ICH9)

What sata controller do you have on the board?

But as AHCI is better, why do you go for IDE mode? What do I miss?

No, i had the very same problem installing PVE...

I rented a root Server at Hetzner and got into the same issue installing PVE. I told the Support if they could replace the CDROM with another one from another Vendor... that solved in my case the problem...

It seems that some USB-Drives from different Vendors are not correctly recognized after the first init-sequence...

I am having the same problem with the latest iso. v 1.5. Using SATA drive, doesn't work on IDE as well. SATA controller is ICH7?

Motherboard is Asus M2A-VM.

Any suggestions??
