Check this out! Got pings connected, but i'm unfortunately still getting "site can't be reached" when i visit https://10.0.0.15/8006 on laptop (with the ip 10.0.0.166), even when i can ping from the laptop to the server successfully also.




Was thinking earlier about Restarting the Router, and if that didn't work i was going to try to get my managed switch configured and route through that. But, it looks like there is progress though!!

Is this normal? i thought proxmox was opensource/free?


Also, do you possibly know if this is this correct or preferred iDRAC server settings ?

You need different IP address for the iDRAC, it's a separate device from the OS on the server.

As for the warning message - https://proxmox.com/en/proxmox-ve/pricing

Are you sure that your browser tries to connect via https? You just typed the ip address, which usually means that http is used.

A side note: using .local as internal tld is highly discouraged, as .local is reserved for mDNS/Bonjour/ZeroConf devices.

I have a few more questions,

Is it somewhat easy to change the hostname now, or would it just be easier to just reinstall and put pve.BasedHosting.based in the "Hostname (FQDN)" category?

Also, I get this screen right before i get the Proxmox Virtual Environment on the server.

Is this normal? it says error in a bunch of places. (sorry so blurry, it comes and gos fast)

The PVE docs say just change a few files: Renaming a PVE node

Since i have nothing installed, just PVE, i should be able to change the hostname in these two files and restarting?

If you keep the hostname (pve) then you can edit /etc/hosts and change the domain part there.
If you want to change the hostname itself you are better off with a reinstall since that is not easily done.

Are you saying specifically, i can just change
pve.BasedHosting.local
to
pve.BasedHosting.based

in both files?
/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname

Since i'm keeping the first two parts the same?
