Install on Etch?

I've just discovered this project and am looking forward to testing it, it looks like an answer to many prayers!

Unfortunately an install with an ISO isn't an option for me as my server is hosted in a data center far, far away.

Would apt-getting the Proxmox packages on a standard Etch box using the ftp://pve.proxmax.com repository work? Has anyone done this if possible?

If so would all dependencies be installed if needed or would I have to get the base Etch system up to scratch first?

no, using the ISO install image is the only supported way. we are working on task package to install on top of debian etch but this is not ready yet - see http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Roadmap

but you can encourage your datacenter provider to install Proxmox VE for you. e.g. www.ovh.com is just doing this already.

Thanks for the reply, the roadmap looks great and I'll be looking forward to 1.x for many reasons.

I'm going to post a request to a few hosting providers and see if I can get them to offer Proxmox for me - I'm looked at OVH but I don't understand French at all!

Exciting project, I'm looking forward to be able to test it soon.
