be accessible to a VM. Been playing with VM's for a year or so now. I actually have a real world use for one now.

The Proxmox Server is sitting in my main building. It's running 8.0.3. I have a workstation in our 2nd building that has an EPSON L1800 attached to it. I need to passthrough or let the VM running on the proxmox server be able to see it, and let the application to print to it. That PC is connecting to the VM via remote desktop over our VPN between the 2 buildings. When I run the command LSUSB from the shell module on the proxmox server I see this.

Linux proxmox 6.2.16-3-pve #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC PVE 6.2.16-3 (2023-06-17T05:58Z) x86_64

When I try to add a USB Device, I only ever see 3 devices. The Epson L1800 printer never shows up to be able to ADD. I think the 3 only options are available to add are devices on the Proxmox Server. I'm sure there is a way, but I can't find it...

Can someone dumb down to me the way I can add USB device to my VM that is actually attached to a physical machine?

TIA

If you want to print while in the RDP session you don't need to map anything in PVE nor in the VM, just use RDP functionality to map the local printer connected to the PC in the RDP session of the VM.

If you want to map a USB device to a VM, that device has to be connected to the PVE host.

Thanks... I'm not sure exactly how to use the RDP functionality to map the local printer, but I'll youtube it to see how it's done.
