its is not just the cpu, you need a reliable board, raid controller with BBU, etc.

for intel: go for xeon 55xx series and never use desktop systems for reliable server operations. for single cpu: xeon 34xx series. both are "Nehalem" based.

for amd: use the latest quadcores.

Then RAID Software is not the best..?
