i5 8600 no NIC when using a sas card

Dear users of Proxmox,

I'm just starting out using Proxmox and i'm running into the following problem.
System is a used i5 8600 with a NVME card, 3 sata connections on the motherboard, 1x PCIE3.0 16x and a PCIE1x slot
In the 16x slot i've installed a dell sas card for 8 drives.
When using the 8 drives, the nvme and 1 sata the NIC only lights up at boot and then in OS is offline.
I'm thinking its because the i5 only has 16 PCIE lanes and they are all in use by the drives and the OS kicks out the NIC.
When disconnecting one of the 8 drives on the sas card Ubuntu boots fine WITH the NIC, but when i boot Proxmox hte NIC is still oflline.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

When adding any new PCIe device (NVMe SSD, any PCIe card, ...) the name of the NIC might change. Connect a keyboard + display and run ip addr to list your NICs and then compare the NIC name to the one stored in your network config file: cat /etc/network/interfaces. If the name doesn't match (for example "ens0p0" is now "ens1p0") then edit all occurances of that name with nano /etc/network/interfaces and restart your network with systemctl restart networking.

wow, that worked flawlessly, i'm back online. i didn't know NIC names could change like that. Thanx man!!!
