i installed the backup server.
So now mount the drive into backup?
therefor i first add hardware (the usb drive) then mount the drive?

i wrote to the
/etc/proxmox-backup/datastore.cfg

datastore: backup
path /mnt/bu

Nothing happens?
i i restart i loose the mount off course. make it persistant?

? nothing.. :(
made the drive pers. after reboot proxmox backup i stil cannot see any backup.

If i choose backup in the gui, i cannot change drive. i only see local.

Log into your PBS-GUI and see if your datastore and the backups are there.
If yes, add the PBS as a storage to your PVE again.

You had PBS already in use; so you should know how your setup looked like and how exactly you accomplished it before, no?
Simply recreate your previous PBS-setup again...

That would be nice.. :D

i will try somethings.

Until where i have to type the path?
/mnt/bu <-- cannot see anthing
/mnt/bu/ct <-- nothing
/mnt/bu/ct/111 <-- nothing

Grrr. :( Thanks for all your patience.. Still nothing...

i mapped the drive via datacenter, then choose in proxmox backup that storage. But i have no idea how that looks in a path?

When there is the folder structure than you are good, thats only meta data... The data from PBS is stored in .chunks folder.
Do not delete or edit anything there! -> That will destroy your datastore.

You have to see if the PBS VM can access this added store. Do this from the WEB GUI https://<pbs vm ip>:8007

That looks good, you have to add the Proxmox Backup Server in the PVE https://<ip>:8006 GUI

Datacenter -> Storage -> Add -> Proxmox Backup Server

Enter IP and the storage name...
User and Password for now use root...
The Fingerprint you can found on the PBS WebGUI (8007) Dashboard

got a little stuck with the user... it is root@pam...
So now i can mount the original disk where all vm and CT are. wipe it and restore.
