I keep freezing at random with either soft lockup cpu stuck or 100% freezing.

ASUS Prime Z790-P WiFi LGA 1700

Memory:
x4 CMK64GX5M2B6400C32 (128gb total)

Cpu:
13900k

Cooler:
ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280

HD:
x2 WDS400T2X0E (4tb editions)

evga supernova 1000 g6

I have tried 2 Motherboards, I have tried 2 nvme drives one at a time as well as a sata mechanical drive. I have tried just one ram module gone through all 4 of them, I updated bios, I messed with bios, I reset bios, I had 2 motherboards like I stated...

In the end no matter what proxmox might freeze during an install, when launching it, when using a vm, etc. It happens sort of at random with no way to gauge the trigger besides it can happen at anytime...

Now the tricky part... I can Install windows 11, perfectly fine, run benchmarks on the cpu, memory, disks, etc for 24 hours and have 0 issues... I'm starting to wonder if I install esxi, etc if I be fine too. Making me think either proxmox triggering something on the cpu, or that maybe it's the Z790 chipset some how having issues?

I'm really lost what to do. I'm not even the experienced with Linux, that being said I been using Proxmox for almost a decade and this the first time I ever wanted to jump off a bridge (kidding of course).

I'm really not having a good week I been spending last maybe 4 days trying resolve this.

what version of Proxmox VE and kernel are you using? You might want to try out the opt-in 6.5 kernel (for Proxmox VE 8) if you haven't already: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/o...2-2-for-proxmox-ve-8-available-on-test.135635

Is there anything in the system logs/journal around the time the issue happens?

With the time already invested, you might install plain Debian and run tests, to see whether the random freezes occur. Later you could install Proxmox on top, or start from scratch with the Proxmox installer.
