the title says it all

any tool like virtual guest service for hyperv or vmware tools for vmware for proxmox?

I know it generaly good practise to use VirtIO drivers.. but any software to smooth out the VM function with the hypervisor?

Hi Tom,

I don't understand why you link me to spise? It may be a mistake because i have another thread here about spice...

what im asking is if there are something in proxmox like you have with virtual guest serivce in hyper-v and vmware tools in vmware?

THANKS

Casper

We do not use a guest agent at the moment (but this is already on the roadmap).

vmware tools contains driver (net, disk, grahick etc) for optimizing performance for vmware guests.

the spice client package mentioned on the wiki page (e.g http://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/spice-guest-tools/spice-guest-tools-0.59.exe)
contains also drivers: virtio nic, block, graphic, virtio- serial, etc.

thats the reason why I sent you to this page.

Which specifically could benefit from "proxmox vm tools"? I guess virtio driver, what else?

virtio works without vm tools, but it can be helpful to shutdown VM, access files and get information about VM state (ram/swap usage, ..)

.. and very important .. enable shadow copy function on Win guest during backup by PVE ( important for MsSQL - Exchange).
Without this function would be like removing the power supply to VM.
