HP 10Gbe card won't work. Is there a better alternative?

I have a bunch of HP NC523 cards. These worked well with VMware ESXI however I am struggling to get these to work with Proxmox.

The dmesg reports this:
Code:
[ 114.814290] qlcnic 0000:01:00.0: command timeout, response = 0x3
[ 114.814295] qlcnic 0000:01:00.0 enp1s0f0: Failed to Add interrupts 17
[ 114.814297] qlcnic 0000:01:00.0: Failed to configure Interrupt for 8 vector
[ 257.422788] qlcnic 0000:01:00.1: command timeout, response = 0x3
[ 257.422793] qlcnic 0000:01:00.1 enp1s0f1: Failed to Add interrupts 17
[ 257.422795] qlcnic 0000:01:00.1: Failed to configure Interrupt for 8 vector

Could anyone make suggestions on the best way to get them working?

Or, are there better 10Gbe cards that are well supported?

I would rather not replace them, but I do not want a setup that is unreliable.

Thanks, George

Hello.

Woudl a "HP 560SFP+ Intel X520" be a good choice?

Or would a "IBM Mellanox ConnectX-3" better?

Thanks.

I don't have any experience with QLogic devices, but Intel NICs should work fine. My current setup uses Broadcom devices (P225P, with a BCM57414 chip), which are capable of 10 and 25 GBit/s as well (SFP28 is compatible to SFP+).

I watched a time ago a video where sombody tried HP Network cards. The conclusion was, that the Pin Layout of the Card differst tothe normal PCIE layout. So you need an HP Server to run it.

Vendor Lock-in at it's best o_O:mad:

OT: That case reminds me of a recent project with a Dell machine, which should get additional storage. There were blank caddies neither installed, nor available for sale at Dell without an (expensive) drive. A third party supplier (Workdone) helped me out.
Conclusion: Won't buy HP or Dell servers again.

I have HP NC523 cards under proxmox and they work good.
But you have to upgrade firmware on those, or those do not work at all
Look for the firmware update bootable ISO - OneConnect-Flash-10.2.340.19-x64-UEFI-2015-02-03.iso (Emulex OneConnect Firmware Update Utility v 10.2.340.6252)
It is from like 2015 and will get you to newest possible firmware , which is 4.9.416.2. Then you cards will start work
