How to transfer the data from a failed data drive to a new drive on PBS?

Good day all,

on my PBS, i had a separate dedicated drive for keeping my backups. This drive failed (SMART STATUS: failed) and i have to replace it.

Is there any way to transfer the data from the old drive to the new one (if the old drive remains readable)?

I wouldn't like to loose the backup history so far.

Thank you all beforehand for your replies.

If the disk remains readable, you can just copy the data over. Make sure to copy all folders from the datastore folder including the hidden .chunks folder. After you copied over all the data you can add the new disk as a datastore and run a verify job to make sure all the copied backups are still valid.

I am thinking of carrying out following:
1. disconnect the old drive
2. connect the new drive and add it as a datastore
3. disconnect the new drive after successful mounting in PBS
4. connect the two drives with an external case to a debian linux pc
5. Copy the data from the old drive to the new drive
6. reconnect the new drive to the PBS
7. Carry out the verify job

Is there a procedure how to replace the old drive with the new one? Or i just connect the new drive-wipe it-mount it and we are ready to go?
