We are removing a machine from our cluster and wanted to rename others. Should we remove the machine from the cluster when connected or can it be done when it is offline? Also I found some links to rename the hosts but what is the good way to do it without reinstalling and resetting the licenses?

I've found https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Renaming_a_PVE_node . It seems such change can obnly be done on empty nodes not part of cluster. Does it means the only way to change an hostname is to reinstall the node?
damned... It seems my plane to name nodes hv01...hvNN was not that smart when you remove the first one ... Thanks for the info.
